Intergroup Attitudes on Intergroup Behavioral Intention among Somali Clans in Somalia

Different social groups have different relationship that are mostly characterized by prejudice and conflicts. Intergroup conflict usually attributed to negative behaviors between mainly underlies mistrust, hostility, aggression, discrimination. However, this study attempts determine how one’s intergroup attitudes may affect their intention behave other group members; specifically, whether the level of identification, out-group trust, prejudice, distance, perceived similarity impact groups. A cross-sectional design method was used employ quantitative approach via self-administered questionnaire. For purpose study, Somali Noble living in Waberi district chosen as sample. The results indicate all were significantly correlated with behavioral intention. Specifically, distance outgroup trust positively intention, meanwhile, significant correlations reported similarities result also indicates Nobel has a lower for Bantu, which explains lack desire socialize Bantu clan. main indicators contribute unique contributor. theoretical practical implications from Social Identity Theory Contact Hypothesis discussed.
